Outline

A necessity for those who have direct responsibility and accountability for Safeguarding and/or vulnerable students as part of their governor role.

Description

The training will explore the role and responsibilities of School Governors in relation to Looked After Children (LAC), Post Looked After Children (PLAC) and the work of the Virtual School and College to support this.

Outcomes

  • To understand the role of the Virtual School and College and how it works effectively with schools, colleges and Governing bodies to improve the outcomes for LAC.
  • To be aware of the local and national context around LAC.
  • To understand the statutory responsibilities and role of the Designated Teacher including sharing and reporting information with Governors.
  • To look at how enhanced pupil premium funding can best support LAC and PLAC students.
