Have you started as a governor, or as a governor at a Portsmouth school, in the last 6-12 months? Then this will be the course for you!
Mike Stoneman, Deputy Director for Children, Families and Education, Dai Thomas, National Leader of Governance, and Alison Critchley, Education Business and Partnerships Manager, will give you an introduction to the local and national educational context, including headline information about Portsmouth schools' performance in 2019. We will talk through the role of the school governor and trustee, and also have a session for "jargon-busting", where governors can share areas that they find confusing or difficult and seek advice in a friendly, supportive environment.
New governors should leave this course feeling more confident about their role and the Portsmouth context, as well as sources of further advice and training. For governors that wish to there will be the opportunity to exchange contact details with recently appointed governors at other schools, to provide ongoing informal support.
All governor training is bookable via the traded services website. To be added as a user please email email@example.com. For any other queries about this training please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
