Where The Wild Things Are

Practitioners often describe managing children's difficult behaviour as one of the most challenging parts of their role

Outline

Practitioners often describe managing children's difficult behaviour as one of the most challenging parts of their role. Practitioners need to consider the situation from the child's perspective, know when and how to intervene effectively during a behaviour event and understand when to be concerned.

Description

This workshop will explore strategies to support you to respond appropriately to children's challenging behaviour. We will focus on the use of assertive language, knowing when to intervene and when to encourage young children’s problem solving. We will consider how your team can be consistent in implementing effective behaviour management in your setting.

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop you will:

  • Be able to promote positive behaviour through the use of assertive language.
  • Confidently use conflict resolution strategies with young children.
  • Be able to encourage collaborative problem solving within your setting.
